LATE 1700s
Founding
James Bloodgood started Bloodgood Nursery in Queens, NY
MID 1800s
King & Murray
Bloodgood was owned by the King and Murray family. Bloodgood had a reputation for their importation of many Japanese species. The Bloodgood Japanese Maple was developed and still in propagation today
LATE 1800s
Ownership Changes
Bloodgood changed ownership to the Foulke family (PA Quaker family)
1930s
Expanding East
With the push of urban sprawl, other nursery sites were established further east.
1950s
Retail
A retail garden center was opened in Springhouse, PA. The wholesale operation was moved to a new location in Doylestown (611 & 313).
1960s
Wholesale
William Foulke Sr. died and the wholesale operations was closed and sold to a developer.
1970s
Albert Edling
Due to a fire, the Springhouse garden center was closed and the Bloodgood Landscape was formed to continue the business. Bloodgood was sold to Albert Edling.
2010
Paul Edling
The company was passed over to Paul Edling who owns and operates Bloodgood today.
